COME JOIN US!

Anyone, high school age or older, with an ability to read aloud and a desire to proclaim the Good News is welcome to join the Ministers of the Word.

WHAT DOES A MINISTER OF THE WORD DO?

*Participates in parish life by proclaiming Scripture at Sunday and/or daily Mass.

*Prepares themselves to lector with the aid of the Workbook for Lectors

*Prays about the scripture to be proclaimed and tries to relate that scripture to daily life.

*Consistently works to improve in the craft of Proclaiming the Word (reading aloud)

*Works to be able to make the scriptures come to life when proclaimed to the assembly

*Has a sense of community and of service to others by his/her ministry

WHY ME?

Because . . .

You have the gift of story telling and the capacity to read before large groups

You want to learn more about scripture and are looking for a way to do it

You want to be of service to the parish family of Saint Irenaeus

HOW DO I JOIN?

If you feel that you have the desire to proclaim God’s Word and sense that you have the capacity to tell stories and read aloud before large groups, then you are welcome to enter into discernment about becoming a Minister of the Word.

If you have questions or would like further information, please contact either of the co-ordinators: Donna Adle or Patti Kirby (714) 826-0760.
